Disney, Day 2 - Animal Kingdom...with the Ripples! SURPRISE!

We made plans to meet up with our neighbors, the Ripples, on Sunday at Animal Kingdom.  It was under crazy circumstances that we both happened to be there at the same time, and we decided to keep it a surprise for the kids.  (Yes, we are amazing parents).  We headed out to explore the park a bit on our own, before unveiling the big surprise.

Chip greeted us as we walked into the park.  We knew right then that it was going to be a good day!

Hannah's got a thing for chipmunks
En route to our safari
We ran into Daisy Duck too!
Do you know how excited little girls who happen to have a dog named Daisy get over meeting a duck named Daisy?  The answer is very, very excited.

We enjoyed these cool African trees on safari (of course, the name of them now escapes me)
Note the giraffes eating from the trees in the background
Hannah and Momma, on safari
Hippos!
...can't remember the name of these either.  (Note to self:  keep current on blog to minimize memory loss issues)
After the safari, we stopped by the park's dedicated allergy-friendly food stand (AWESOME!) and got this girl some gluten-free donuts.  She was one very happy little camper!
We then journeyed over to meet Russell & Dug (from the movie UP)
Hugs for Dug
...and Russell
...and Dug again.
...and Russell.  I think you get the idea.

We spent some time admiring the Tree of Life
We then went over to meet Pocahontas.
...and collect autographs...
And to unveil the Ripple surprise!  Hannah and Hazel were stunned, and remained in this position for quite some time.
They immediately claimed the double stroller for themselves
Lunch with our friends - at Disney World!  Awesome!
Then it was off to see the Lion King show
Big kids at the Lion King
Another pretty fantastic Disney show

The big kids (including Megan and Kyle, third row), went over to ride Expedition Everest.  Norah (front row, left) swears she enjoyed it, despite the look on her face.  Megan went into hiding against Kyle, but was reportedly also a fan.
Mt Everest, Disney version
While the big kids were off on their adventure, Hannah and Hazel got to meet Mickey & Minnie

I am not sure Hannah could envision a scenario more perfect than her best friend AND Mickey and Minnie...
We reunited as a group and did some exploring of the rest of the park, including the Tigers in Asia

We also took some time to admire this champion baby, Emery, who was a total trooper all day long.
The fountains were welcome at this point of a very hot Orlando afternoon

Megan and Norah.  It was a good surprise for everyone.
We split up to see the Finding Nemo show - which was not only very cool, but also air conditioned.  Hallelujah!

After the show, we explored Dinoland, where we found our friends AND Goofy and Pluto.  You can't keep Hannah away from Pluto

I had the pleasure of holding Emery so Mom and Dad could ride some rides (I feel like I got the better end of the deal)
Hannah, Hazel, Emery and I enjoyed a chipmunk dance party while the big kids (and parents) went off to enjoy the rides
In Hannah's world, the only thing better than a dance party is a Chipmunk dance party
We said goodbye to the Ripples, did a little souvenir shopping, and wrapped up a great day at Animal Kingdom

After the girls went to bed, a certain little Elf friend appeared.  She made the trip all the way to Orlando to help us ring in the birthday of a certain FIVE year old.  Thanks Sparkle Teddy Bear!
