We are really, really excited about Megan's second grade teacher, Mrs. Westgate. We had a great first impression at Meet the Teacher night, and she has put our seriously-anxious-at-the-start-of-the-school-year lady right at ease. We bypassed much of the drama we had at the beginning of kindergarten and first grade, and she's settled into a great little routine.
She had a fun little surprise planned for the kids, to coincide with a book they had been reading about relatives. Once the story concluded, she waved all the waiting family members in from the hallway to surprise the kids. They were floored! We then spent the remainder of the school day in the courtyard just outside their classroom, snacking, reading stories and generally being entertained by their shock and dismay. Such a fun afternoon!
