Our first Fourth of July in Grand Haven! The girls were lucky enough to see the fireworks over Fremont Lake the night before (meaning a super late bedtime), so we did not want to risk a total meltdown by dragging them downtown for the GH festivities at all hours of the night. Instead, we elected to stay home, roast some marshmallows and do sparklers in our own backyard.

Sparklers are fun even in broad daylight (not sure how much longer we will get away with that) |
We're only about a mile from where they shoot off the fireworks in GH. After the kids went to bed, we started hearing the big booms indicating the show had started. We walked out into the street in front of our home to watch the show, and discovered that not only could we see the Grand Haven fireworks to the west, but we also had a view of Spring Lake's to the east. We watched for a little bit, then walked the ten feet back to our house - no crowds, no parking issues, no late night - my kind of fireworks.
