Momma Day - Adventures at Krupp Farms

I have been wanting to take the girls berry picking since last berry season, but our schedules and/or the weather have prevented us from making a go of it.  FINALLY we had a great weather day and a totally unscheduled Friday, and we went for it.  We headed to Krupp Farms in Comstock Park, just a short drive from our house.

Let's get pickin'!

You may not recognize this - but this is her strawberry pickin' game face

Hard at work

"Hey Mom, look what I got!"

It only took us about 15 minutes to accumulate SIX pounds of strawberries

We checked our their petting zoo after the U-pick experience

Megan assured me she was under control, but I'm pretty convinced this goat was running the show

Notice how she's taken a cautious step backwards in this picture

She finds goats to be hilarious

They had baby pigs!  Coincidentally, I now want nothing more than to have a baby pig for a pet -  SOOOO CUTE!

Feeding Mama Pig

Seriously!!!  How could you not fall for those little baby pig faces?

Of course, they talked me into ice cream afterwards

"Ha, ha - we talked her into ice cream!"

Bye Krupp Farms!  Until next time!

Grand Haven - inspection day

Inspection day gave us another opportunity to see the house (and take pictures of the bedrooms and bathrooms...and make a million mental plans for decorating).  I lost interest in the technicalities of the inspection after about five minutes, and took a T.O.N. of pics:

The master bedroom.  Listen closely people, because you may never hear me say this again:  I don't intend to change the paint color.

This doorway leads to the private master bathroom - as most of the homes we looked at prior to landing on this one only had ONE bathroom (the horror!), the fact that we ended up with one to call our own was a huge perk.

The master bathroom.  I hate you, laminate flooring, but we will find a way to coexist in peace as this is not my primary residence.  But know this: I have always loved your older brother, Tile, way more.

This will be Hannah's future bedroom.  We won't be furnishing it this summer, but by the time I'm done, it won't be yellow.

She has two nice windows that overlook the backyard...

And a nice jumbo closet!

This will be Megan's bedroom.  The neutral color isn't bad, but I will be changing it, as that is what I do.

The ceiling is actually screaming for a coat of paint as well.  I've never had to paint a ceiling before - it doesn't sound like a ton of fun.

Her window overlooks the front yard and street.  There is a little area in front of the window that would eventually be perfect for a little desk.
This is the upstairs bathroom, which the girls will share.

This bathroom grows on me every time I see it.  I find it to be perfectly beachy.

The vanity - this bathroom has a skylight which makes it hard to take pictures without crazy sunlight reflections everywhere, but it does make it nice and bright.

Happy 6th Birthday, Megan Elaine!

She's done it - our girl has gone and turned S.I.X. years old!  For some reason, that just seems so much bigger than five.  It probably doesn't help matters that she aspires to be 22, but I digress.  Her birthday fell on a Sunday this year, and we partied Lalaloopsy style all weekend long.

Her friends joined us on Saturday for her crafts & candy party (see previous post re: Mommy's crafting insanity).

Ready to party!

This is her signature pose

No surprise here, but she was a big fan of the candy bar

Best buddy Norah was the first to arrive

Lydia works on sewing her own pet while Hannah gets a jumpstart on the cupcakes (yup, she's definitely mine)

Haley & Mikayla got to join us this year, too!
We had the grandparents, Uncle Kent, and Megan's friend Brianna (who couldn't join us on Saturday) over on Sunday to celebrate.

Birthday morning gifts from Mom & Dad

She and Marie-Grace got matching PJs

Out of all of the options I gave her for a birthday breakfast, she chose a hot dog bun with ketchup.  Six year olds are weird...

Happy to be partying with Bri!

This was the first year she could read all of her cards on her own

And she's also old enough to understand the virtues of a Target gift card - she's a smart lady

Lucky to have some candle-blowing assistants

After a fun-filled weekend, we ended her birthday with dinner at the place of her choice (Kitchen 67) followed by ice cream at Spoonlickers.  It was a wonderful birthday for a pretty wonderful girl.  Happy six years, Megan Elaine!

Girlfriend loves her Spoonlickers
